Harry Tyrpak

Harry Tyrpak, 98 of Gaylord, and a former longtime Lewiston resident, passed away at home on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Born in Madison, Illinois, on December 3, 1924, he was the son of John and Anna (Rydgig) Tyrpak.

While living in Lewiston, Harry met Donelda “Dee” Cameron at the former Huber House Restaurant (now Iron Kettle), where she was working.  They were married in Lewiston on May 20, 1988.

He was retired from Western Electric where he worked over 30 years as a telephone repairman.  In Lewiston, Harry was the caretaker at High Tail Haven Deer Ranch and Dee enjoyed helping him there.  Later they moved to Atlanta where Harry and Dee were members of Big Rock Church.  In 2006, they moved to Gaylord.

In his spare time, he enjoyed taking photographs, of people, wildlife, just about anything.  He also enjoyed bird watching and feeding birds.  Harry enjoyed shopping, it was a way to get out and about to visit with people.  Dee would often wonder what treasures Harry would come home with from those trips out! He loved to laugh and had an infectious smile that made all who met him enjoy his company.

Harry is survived by three daughters, Teresa (Alec) Burson, April (Tony) Pica and Dawn Wilson all of Gaylord; grandchildren, Ryan (Danielle), Brandon (Sabrina), Matthew, Andrew (Stephanie) and Danielle (Will); great-grandchildren, Becca (Tyler), Cole, Cassie (Alex), Genesis, Eden, Sophia, Layla, Aiden and Emmet; a great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, and one due any day; a brother-in-law, Gary Cameron; a sister-in-law, Judy Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters, Walter, Ted, Mak, Sophie, Helen, and Rosemary; and a grandson, Steven James Wood.

The family will have a memorial gathering later.
