Greta M. Rosebrook

Greta Mary (Skuggen) Rosebrook, age 76, passed away surrounded by thoughts of peace and love on January 9, 2017.  Greta was born in Hancock, MI to Clarence and Ruth Skuggen, and raised in L’anse, MI.

Greta married her high school sweetheart, Darryl M. Rantanen, in 1958 and started a family in L'Anse.  As a trooper for the State of Michigan, they were stationed at various posts throughout Michigan.  Darryl was killed in the line of duty in May of 1974.   Greta later remarried and relocated to Cheboygan, Michigan where she resided up until her death for all but a few years.

Greta always enjoyed cooking and sharing her love thru the gift of food.  She especially loved warming hearts with soups and homemade breads.

Greta is survived by her five children Jim (Kristie) Rantanen, Jeff Rantanen, Dan Rantanen, Anne (Chris) VanFleet and Lisa (Justin) Howe, eight grandchildren, her sisters Lisa (Bela) Lanczy and Christine (Wayne) Kangas, and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her first husband, Darryl Rantanen, her parents, Clarence and Ruth Skuggen and nephew Tommy Kangas.

At Greta's request, a private memorial service will be held later at her place of burial in Skanee, Michigan.
