Grace I. Rosin

Grace Ilene Rosin was born January 24, 1939, in Temperance, MI to Sherman and Grace Holey. The youngest of seven children, she spent her life nurtured by her three sisters and dearest friends, May Ruth, Patsy and Lucy while also being protected and teased by her three brothers and heroes Sherman, Hazen and Edward. Grace grew into a beautiful young woman with striking hazel eyes and a stunning smile. Surrounded by her older siblings growing families, her nieces and nephews held a cherished spot in her heart.

One serendipitous day, while walking down the street with her brother and best friend she met a handsome, stylish, blue-eyed stranger. George and Grace married February 9, 1957. They shared a love of music, dancing, and family. That chance meeting grew into sixty-one years of marriage, three children, fifteen grandchildren and their eight spouses and twenty-one great grandchildren. All because two people fell in love.

Like her mother, Grace was industrious and hardworking. She was always busy with a project or two – from sewing for her family, rearranging furniture, painting, fixing appliances to knocking out walls to let more light into a room – there was nothing she was afraid to attempt.

Grace worked for the Frederic Post Office for more than fifteen years and enjoyed interacting with the people in her community; however, her greatest role and the work she always poured her heart into was that of a mother and grandmother.

Grace was a devoted mother and as her children Penny, George and Stacey married, she loved their spouses Bert, Jean, and Johnny as her own; however, it became clear to all who knew her that her grandchildren were her dearest treasure. She would do anything to spend time with them – she was a playmate, a nurse, a chef, a loving counselor and their greatest cheerleader. She and George shared their love of music and dancing, and their grandchildren soon established family talent shows as a tradition that they both loved – singing and dancing accompanied every family get-together.

The only love that was greater for Grace, was her love for the Lord. Grace was a woman of faith, and she imparted that great gift to her children and grandchildren. Her testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ would become a strength and foundation for the entire family. In a time of great need for her teenagers, she prayed for help and soon received a missionary couple into her home that would share with her the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Grace remained a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1976 to the day she left this world, February 10, 2025, and returned home to her Father in Heaven and beloved husband and family.

Grace was welcomed into heaven, by her eternal companion George Rosin, her beloved parents, Grace and Sherman Holey; loving mother-in-law Emma Thompson; her siblings and their spouses May Ruth and Victor Rock, Patsy and Allen Lawe, Lucy and Forrest Reno, Sherman Holey, Edward and Joanne Holey; her sisters and brothers-in-law Penny and David Collier, Frank and Sandy Thompson, and Donna Bauer; stepdaughter and spouse Carol and Ray Jones; son-in-law Roger (Char) Kuhr; granddaughters Diana and Nicole Rosin; great grandson Zeek Young; beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Grace is survived by, her children Penny and Bert Kaiser, George and Jean Rosin, Stacey and John (Gay) Rosin and stepdaughter Char Kuhr as well as her brother and spouse Hazen and Betty Holey, sister-in-law Maggie (Sherman) Holey along with her 13 grandchildren and their 8 spouses, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, dear friends and church family.
