Gerald L. “Jerry” Kline, 71 of Alanson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey with his family by his side.
Born on June 19, 1945 in Petoskey, Jerry was the son of Joseph and Thelma (Looze) Kline. When he was young, the family moved to Midland where Jerry graduated from Midland High School.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Jerry returned to Midland where he was the owner of Jerry’s Camper Sales. A “jack of all trades”, he could do anything. He worked in construction and as an electrician over many years both in Midland and after moving to Petoskey in 1992. He also had worked at Glass Alternatives in Petoskey.
Jerry was a parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be remembered for his love of collecting many things, especially Petoskey stones and other rocks and coins.
Jerry is survived by his children, Don (Mary) Kline of Alanson, Jerelyn Champine of Midland, David (Holly) Kline of Midland, Daniel (Melissa) Kline of Midland, Todd Rabine of Alanson and Diana (Derek) Elliott of Gaylord; his longtime companion, Mary Rabine of Alanson; grandchildren, Dustin, Amanda, Blaise (Haley), Andrew, Harley, Krystien (Josh), Sierra, Cole, Cassidy, Gabby, Alexa, Haley, Hunter, Brian, Todd and Chris; great grandchildren, Marilynn and Peyton. Also surviving are his sister, Karen (Lynn) Murray of Boyne City; brothers, Tom, Jim and Pat (Carrie) Kline all of Petoskey; several nieces and nephews; many close friends and his loving dog, Toby.
A scripture service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Legion.
