Geraldine M. Sylvester

Geraldine M. Sylvester, 94 of Gaylord, passed away at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Born in Battle Creek, MI on July 4, 1926, she was the daughter of Earl and Myrtle (Bird) VanSyckle.

For over 20 years, Geraldine worked at Glen’s Market in Gaylord where she retired. She was an incredible mother who raised six daughters and had 5 step-children. She loved playing cards, especially Rummy, with her caregivers where they would play daily. In her spare time she loved to sew, crochet, color, was an avid reader, play the piano and sing. Her greatest pride and joy was always her family.

Geraldine is survived by her six daughters, Deloris (Michael Corpe) Sylvester of Lansing, Judy Davis of PA, Pamela (James) Herzer of Gaylord, Sandy (Patrick) Moallemian of Boston, MA, Lori Gonzalez of Gaylord and Lisa (Kurt) Cancilla of Gaylord; very special grandchildren, Tracey, Christina, Melissa, Erika, Jaimee, Derek, Patrick, Zachary, Autumn, Emily, Elise and Alexander; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way, several great-great grandchildren; one brother, Ronald and a half brother, John.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Alfred in 2012; two sisters, Deloris and Patricia, one brother, Richard and half-brother, Butch; a stepson, Eugene  and a stepdaughter, Sharon.
