Gerald Dean “Butch” Hankins, 74 of Petoskey, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Petoskey on July 25, 1940, Butch was the son of Carl and Helen (Merrill) Hankins.
For many years, Butch was a delivery driver for Petoskey Beverage. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, western music and movies, dancing, woodworking and repairing small engines. He was a member of the F.O.E. 2462 Petoskey Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His pride and joy were his grandchildren.
On June 13, 1987 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, he married Anne Krawczyk who survives. Also surviving is his son, Scott (Dawn) Hankins of Charlevoix; step-children, Michele (Tim) Schantz of Mattawan, Michael Dielman of Cheboygan, Ferd Dielman Jr of Petoskey, Becky (Ethan) Swiger of Petoskey and David Dielman of Alanson; sisters, Roberta Greenier, Joan Kahgee and Clara Ruzinsky; grandchildren, Zach and Allison Hankins, Dylan, Cory and Trevor Schantz, Lakota and Bronwyn Dielman, Kylie and Marley Swiger, and Christian and Levi Dielman. He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Petoskey Eagles Club, 313 Water Street.
