George H. Mason

George Harvey Mason, 72 of Center Township, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016. He was born in Grand Rapids on March 18, 1943, the son of Leon H. Mason and Mary Alice (Pintal) Mason.

He graduated from Grand Rapids Union High School in 1961. George was a well known, nationally certified auto mechanic in Grand Rapids and owned his own business for many years. After moving north, he worked at Boyne Highlands. George enjoyed golfing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.

He married Theresa (Bodzick) in 1964, his wife for 51 years who survives. Also surviving are his children, George (Tamara) Mason of Grand Rapids, Pamela (Eric) Moore of Coopersville, Andrew (Michelle) Mason of Martin; his sister, Joyce Mason; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mary and Anna Mason, Sally and Bryan Moore, Drew and Tommy Mason and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Theresa R. Moore; his parents; his sisters, Joan Meyer and Virginia Larsen; his brother, Francis Mason; his father and mother-in-law, Stanley R. and Stasia Bodzick; and sister-in-law, Barbara Bodzick.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Pellston where the funeral mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. A luncheon will follow at the St. Clement Quonset Hall.
