George Nathan Bogaert, 70 of Gaylord, passed away on his 70th birthday, Monday, February 22, 2016 at Otsego Memorial Hospital.
Born in Detroit on February 22, 1946, George was the son of Albert and Christine (Chaney) Bogaert. He grew up in the Detroit area and later lived in Royal Oak before moving to Gaylord in 1990.
George was a truck driver. During his career he traveled throughout the United States. At one time or another his wife, Sharon and all of their children took trips with him. He retired in 2010. George was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing pool. He also enjoyed working with kids through Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and as a basketball coach.
On July 31, 1965, George married Sharon Culham, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Gary Norman (Rose) Bogaert of Gaylord, George Neil (Cindy) Bogaert of Harrison Township, Summer Lindsay (Corey Bourcier) Bogaert of Bay City and Shelby Leeanne (Danny) Grim of Wolverine; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters Nancy Ann Frank of Clearwater Beach, FL and Margaret Jean Bogaert of Hazel Park; a brother, Thomas Albert (Kathy) Bogaert of Westmoreland, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Louise Davis in 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 26, 2016 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 11:00 A.M. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.
