Gary B. Joles, 68 of Vanderbilt, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Born in Hudson Township on September 15, 1946, Gary was the son of Orley and Beatrice (LaFave) Joles.

A lifelong area resident, Gary graduated from Wolverine High School in 1964. He was self employed for many years, working as a lumberjack. In recent years Gary had worked at Circle M Ranch, Haskins Trucking and Siwecki Construction.

Gary was a car enthusiast who enjoyed rebuilding motors and attending car shows. He was also an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, mushroom hunting and camping. He was a member of the NRA and a member of the Northern Michigan Restoration Branch of RLDS Church in Atlanta.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, whom he married in Boyne City on September 21, 1978; his children, Dennis (Jane) Joles of Zeeland, Doug (Sharon) Joles of Vanderbilt, Tracy (Scott Goodenough) Joles of Vanderbilt and Danny Joles of Utah; grandchildren, Madison, Jacob, Katie, Mariel, Kamara and Braylyn; a brother, Merle (Chris) Joles of Vanderbilt; a sister-in-law, Sharon Irene Joles of Plainwell; three nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne and Danny Joles.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Ave. where the family will visit with friends beginning at 3:00 PM.
