Gary James Isaman

Gary James Isaman, age 73, of Gaylord, MI passed away February 14, 2023.

Gary was born in Petoskey, MI and grew up in Troy, MI where he attended Troy High.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and, after returning home, he spent his career as a real estate appraiser.

Gary was an avid fly and ice fisherman. In his retirement years he was passionate about conserving and protecting northeastern Michigan’s cold-water fisheries and spent his free time volunteering for Headwaters Trout Unlimited where he served as a board member.

Gary is survived by his former spouse, Deborah Isaman; their two children, Jamie (Eric) Pyke and Megan McGarry; his four grandchildren, Evan and Claire Pyke and Cora and Evalyn McGarry; his brother, Darcy (Sandra) Isaman and sister, Vicki (Dan) Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Isaman.

Gary would always be willing to lend a helping hand and share a story along the way. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2023 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home and Cremation Service where visitation will begin at 12:00 noon. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Headwaters Trout Unlimited, P.O. Box 1873, Gaylord, MI  49734.
