Gail Ann Castle, 75 of Gaylord, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Medical Center of Trinity in New Port Richey, Florida.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan on February 11, 1945, Gail was the daughter of Irwin and Mary (Padzieski) Herbst. She grew up in Livonia and was a graduate of Ladywood High School.
Gail went on to attend Michigan State University where she received her bachelor’s degree and later received her master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
She enjoyed many years as a teacher in Taylor Schools where she was an elementary classroom teacher and a special education teacher. She was also a parent facilitator for after school programs.
For over 41 years, Gail was a trustee on the board of directors of Taylor Community Credit Union where she also served as recording secretary for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and for many years she was an avid golfer.
On October 3, 1986, Gail married James E. Castle. They lived many years in Allen Park. In retirement they moved to Gaylord and spent winters in New Port Richey, Florida.
Gail is survived by her husband, Jim; a sister, Mary (Larry) Gavigan) of Tempe, AZ and a brother, William (Sandra) Herbst of Wolverine, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her many friends, including close friends Joyce Williams and family and Kay Smith.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Herbst and close friend Mickey Williams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at St. Mary Cathedral.
