Frank A. Moore, 90 of Gaylord, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at McReynolds Hall. Born April 7, 1933, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Clayton and Francis (Carpenter) Moore.
On February 2, 1953, in Detroit, Frank married the love of his life, Agnes Sarah Hellmer. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. Frank and Agnes raised 5 wonderful children and created a beautiful life together. They also raised 22 boys from Vietnam. For many years, he owned and operated Gaylord Flooring in Gaylord. Frank was active in the community as a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Past Grand Knight and Honor Guard. One of his greatest accomplishments was starting the Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Gaylord. He attended St. Mary Cathedral where he was active in his younger years. He enjoyed woodworking and making things with his hands.
He is survived by his loving wife, Agnes of 70 years; his children, Francine (Edward) Nizienski, Frank (Linda) Moore, Martina Matelski, and Nikki (Timothy) Kucharek; siblings, Ted (Marguerite) Moore, Ernie (Joyce) Moore, Sharon Painter and Sheldon (Gerriann) Pettite. grandchildren, Sarah, Dennis, Marie, Katherine, Casey, John, Frank, Jenni, Jaci, Kari, Jarvis, Kyle, Bennie, Angie, Terrance, Barb, James, Jessie, Martin, and Erin; great-grandchildren, Kegan, Kyle, Kameron, Chelsey, Kwintin, Rylie, Lincoln, Gavin, Grace, Declan, Hayzyl, Killian, Blake, Nicholas, Alivia, Kelsey, Phoenix-Rain, Reese, Colton, Konner, Noah and Jax; great-great grandson, Leo; special children by choice, Tinh and Missy Nguyen, Tho and Sofia Nguyen, Hoa and Ann Luc, Hai Luc, Tu and Tran, Dung and Thanh, Lance Long and Lieu Troung, Hiep and Tho Nguyen, Hop Nguyen and Tien; grandchildren by choice, Kimberly, Brandon, Brook, Chantel, Bram, Cameron, Lilly, Angel, Anna, Milan and Mitchell; sister, Francis (Tark) Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Maeann E.J. Moore; son-in-law, Stanley Matelski; daughter-in-law, Barbara Moore; siblings, Dorthy Moore and Virginia Huot; sister-in-law, Sybilla Ray; brothers-in-law, Tub Huot, Rex Painter, George Hellmer, David Hellmer, Herman Ray; special daughter by choice, Ha Huynh; father and mother-in-law, Agnes and Martin Hellmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 12:00 PM Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Mary Cathedral where the family will visit with friends beginning at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gaylord St. Mary School.
