Frances L. McDonald

Frances Lillian McDonald, 82 of Gaylord, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. Born August 21, 1942, in Newport, Vermont, the daughter of Harold and Beulah (Sweet) Benware. 

On October 15, 1959, Fran married the love of her life, Lawrence, in Lowell, Vermont. Together they raised 4 children and created a beautiful life. Frances worked at Hidden Valley, Buy Low and Glens throughout her career in waitressing and in local grocery markets. Working throughout the years is where she became a friendly face to many customers and made some wonderful friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and playing bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Lawrence (Denise) McDonald, Tina (Craig) Rinkel, Todd (Laurie) McDonald and Richard (Tina) McDonald; 11 special grandchildren, Dustin (Stephanie) McDonald, Mellisa McDonald (Adam), Bryan Kent (Tiffany), Aaron Kent, James Wheeler, Alex (Claire) Nichols, Nick (Amy) Nichols, Carissa (Brian) Process, LeAnne (Andrew) Lesosky, Brandi Slivinski and Tiffany (Ian) Young; 22 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold and Jerald Benware.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Beulah (Sweet) Benware; her husband, Lawrence R. McDonald in 2011; and two brothers, David and Gary Benware.

A memorial service will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A luncheon will follow at Livingston Township Hall, 3218 Old 27 North, Gaylord.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grandvue Medical Care Facility, 1728 S. Peninsula Road, East Jordan, MI 49727.
