Floyd “Oachie” Hausler, 86 of Boyne Falls, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Born in Petoskey on February 8, 1930, he was the son of Floyd P. Sr. and Myrtle M. (Towns) Hausler. Other than a brief time living in Flint, Floyd was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Boyne Falls High School.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Floyd was a well known area builder and former president of Boyne Falls Log Homes, now known as Town & Country Log Homes.
On October 18, 1952, Floyd married Irene Matelski at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Boyne Falls where he has been a longtime parishioner.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and Irene enjoyed traveling, having been to most of the 48 continental states. They enjoyed spending winters in Las Vegas and Florida.
Floyd is survived by Irene, his wife of 64 years; their children, Susan (Dale) Conklin, Cynthia (Thomas) Johnson and Eric Hausler all of Boyne City; grandchildren, Stephen (Michelle), Brian, Staci (Clyde), Amanda, Monica (Jason), Heidi (Santi), Justin, Jordyn and Jared; 13 great grandchildren.; and his devoted dog, Hannah. The oldest of six children, he is survived by his brother, Norman (Mary) Hausler of Boyne Falls and sisters, Marjorie (Dan) Goldsmith of Petoskey, Phyllis Case of Kingsley, Midge Follette of Petoskey and Katie Hausler of Boyne Falls; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a beloved daughter, Karen Seelye and a son-in-law, Timothy Seelye.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at St. Augustine Cemetery in Boyne Falls.
