Evelyn E. Spencley

Evelyn Estelle (Wiseman) Spencley passed on January 16, 2025, of Brutus, formally from Grand Blanc. She was the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Kessler) Wisman of Chelsea, Massachusetts, born on July 31, 1937.

On February 1, 1964, she married Charles D. Spencley and made their home in Grand Blanc till he retired on or around 1985, then made Brutus their full time residence.

Evelyn was a social butterfly and loved to be out and about with the girls. She was involved with TOPS, Red Hats and her church. When living in Grand Blanc, she hosted weekly games of Bunco. When not eating out with the girls, she liked to cook, could look at cookbooks for hours, and entertain at their cabin on Maple River.

She loved to do ceramics and made many pieces that she shared with friends and family.

She is survived by her niece Sheila Spencley (Mike) Kelley, her friend Sue (John) Emery, son Bruce Stake, granddaughter Nicole (Luke) Baretta of Australia, great grandchildren Jacob, Olivia, Lochie along with many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Alan Stake and her brother Neil Wiseman.

Sheila would like to give special thanks to Sue for all her help with Evelyn over the last five years. Also, thank you to Lacey with hospice for the wonderful care she gave her over the last couple of months along with Ben. The staff at Independence Village, along with Laurs nursing staff, has taken care of her for the last five years and have done a wonderful job.

A celebration of life will be planned later. Evelyn’s wish was to be buried with her son Alan and her wish will be honored this spring/summer.
