Elsie L. Athearn

Elsie L. Athearn, 83 of Bellaire, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born in Bellaire on January 28, 1939, the daughter of Verd and Eunice (Reiley) Lambert.

She married Donald L. Athearn on June 2, 1963 and they built a beautiful life together. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed working in the kitchen - cooking, baking, and canning. She loved to feed everyone. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds and she was happiest when she was helping someone. She loved her family with her whole heart. They were the world to her. She loved people and made friends easily wherever she went and touched many people’s lives in so many ways.  In recent years, you could always find her busy with her colored pencils and coloring books of every kind of flower. She was also “Mom” to many of her children’s friends.

She is survived by her children, Lori (Bill) Jensen of Boyne City, Aaron (Susan) Athearn of Elmira, Kelly (Sadie) Athearn of Beulah, Linda (John) Wormell of Boyne City, Colleen (David) Russell of Traverse City, Valerie Athearn of Edmore and Don (Jan) Athearn of Alma; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2017.
