Ellen Darlene Vollmer

Ellen Darlene Vollmer, 69 of Gaylord, passed away Tuesday Oct 8, 20024 at home with family by her side.

Born in Wheeling, WV., on January 18, 1955, to John & Dora Hensley (Casto). Ellen preferred to be called Darlene and graduated from Northwestern high school in Flint, MI.

Darlene moved to Gaylord in 1993 where she wanted to raise her 4 children. 

On Aug 9, 2003, she married her best friend, Ben Vollmer and worked as a caregiver for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved camping, taking day adventures and loved her time in Florida with her sister. 

Darlene is survived by Ben Vollmer her husband of 21 years; son, Matt (Melissa Boyden) Mick; daughters, Allison (Gary) Churches, Rachel (Shain Miley); granddaughter, Olivia Sharrow they raised; grandkids and great grandkids; brother, Tom Hensley; sisters, Diane and Debbie; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Leisa Mick, 4 grandchildren; niece, Christina Long and brother-in-law, Rob VanHamlin.

A memorial service will take place 1:00 PM Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Gaylord E-Free Church, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 12:00 PM. A luncheon will follow.
