Elizabeth Ann Gray, 75 of Gaylord, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born on April 20, 1949 in Toledo, she spent much of her youth in Mio, raised by her parents, Pietro “Pete” and Rose Montani. She graduated from Mio High School in 1967.
In her high school days, she met her future husband, Jonathan Gray, in Mio. He grew up in a neighboring town. They were married in Mio on May 10, 1969, while Jon was on furlough from the U.S. Army before he deployed to Vietnam.
While Jon was in Vietnam, Liz lived with family members in the Mio area. After he returned home, they moved to Alpena where they lived for a number of years before moving to Gaylord in 1994.
Liz was a dedicated wife and mom, always putting her family first. This included her husband, Jon, three children, and the family dogs. In her spare time, she enjoyed hobbies that included cross stitch, cooking, and canning.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by Jon, her husband of almost 56 years; her children, Scott (Slavica) Gray of Chesterfield, MI; Christopher Gray of Denver, CO, and Elizabeth Gray of Gaylord; a brother, Santo (Jan) Montani of Mio; a sister, Linda Montani of Gaylord, and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord where visitation will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the coming weeks at Fairview Cemetery.
Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Otsego County Animal Shelter.
