Elden Eugene Braley, 88, joined his Savior peacefully on January 3, 2018. Elden was born on January 6, 1929 in Cadillac, MI. His parents, Earl and Ellen Braley raised one of the most amazing sons.
Elden graduated from Cadillac High School in 1947. During his high school years he met his true love and soul mate, Doris Mae (Daniels) Braley who preceded him in death this past September. They had recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Elden was employed with Michigan Bell Telephone Company and AT&T for over 40 years. He transferred from Cadillac in his early years to Cheboygan where Elden and Doris made their home and raised their family. After retiring, Elden and Doris spent their winters in Arizona.
In his early years, Elden held a position as a Military Policeman for the National Guard. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church for many years. He was involved in the community and loved Cheboygan. He enjoyed camping, golf, traveling, sports, raising farm animals and taking care of the home he built. He thoroughly loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elden is survived by his four children, Suann (Kirk) Jewell, William (Linda) Braley, Marla (Matt) Mora, and James (Sueann) Braley. His grandchildren, Brandon (Katie) Jewell, Abbi (Scott) Scalici, Alison Chimner, Ashley (Ben) Canarecci, Lindsay McGinnis, step grandchildren: Ryan Kinsey, Heather (Tom) Weber, Sister Joyce (Ricco) Zabella and several nieces and nephews.
Elden was blessed with seven great-grandchildren which he adored. His face lit up whenever the little ones were around. Their names are: Paige DeVries, Kinley and Grayson Scalici, Brody, Kade and Maxen Canarecci, Madison McGinnis and two step-great grandchildren, Levi and Layne Weber.
Elden was preceded in death by his wife Doris, his parents, and two brothers, a great-granddaughter, Averi Kay Scalici and brother and sister-in-law’s.
A special burial memorial will be held in the spring for his family and friends that he loved so very much in Cadillac, Michigan.
