Eileen E. VanOosten, 88 of Gaylord, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Otsego Memorial Hospital.
Born in Detroit on May 14, 1929, she was the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Bitterman) Weber.
Eileen and her husband, James P. VanOosten were longtime residents of the Detroit area before moving to Canada Creek Ranch in Atlanta. They also lived for 10 years in California before moving to Gaylord in the early 1990’s to be near family.
In Gaylord, Eileen worked at RepTron and as a hostess at the Sugar Bowl Restaurant. She attended the Gaylord E-Free Church, she enjoyed embroidery and crossword puzzles and she was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Eileen was very proud of her family and she enjoyed spending time with them. She was generous and loyal to her family, friends and her pets.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, James on September 14, 1994. She is survived by daughters, Janis (Michael) Murphy of Vanderbilt and Lori Elam of Lansing; grandchildren Benjamin Andrews and Claudia Crawford Bryant; a brother, Robert Weber; nieces, Sharon and Sandy; nephews, Robert, Pete and Skip; and her faithful companion, her beloved “Kitty”. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Norman; and an infant sister.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at 2:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
