Edwin Vinecki, 80 of Gaylord, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.
Born in Gaylord on June 14, 1943, he was the son of Frank and Gertrude (Swieika) Vinecki. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1962 graduate of Gaylord High School.
Ed was a well-known local roofing contractor. He worked for Fox & Simpson Roofing, later buying that business and changing the name to Alpine Roofing, which he owned for over 35years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, playing golf, fishing, pontoon boat rides, taking care of his lawn, and his 1930 Ford Model A. He also enjoyed spending vacation time at his Black Lake cottage. Ed was always sociable and helpful, he enjoyed just visiting or helping anyone with home repair or other projects.
On March 23, 1962, Ed and Donna J. White were married in Gaylord. She preceded him in death on September 15, 2014.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Vinecki of Gaylord; grandchildren, Breanna (Levi) Gunsell and Quentin Vinecki; one great-grandchild; a sister, Pat Reno; a brother, Ted (Marge) Vinecki; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death his parents; a sister, Monica Norton; and brothers, Jack, Jim, Kenny, and Virgil Vinecki.
