Edward S. Woloson

Edward Woloson 80 of Wolverine passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his daughter’s house on August 26th, 2018.

Ed's life began when he was born September 25th, 1937 in Brookhaven, NY, son of Irving Woloson and Rose (Zowader). As a child, Ed's family moved to Florida where he grew up in the Miami area where his parents owned and operated a garment factory. Ed spent many hours there working and fun times fishing, swimming and camping on the many miles of beach on the ocean. He loved to share the stories of what Florida “was” before it is what it is now.

With license in hand he went to driving commercially, pioneering the trucking industry in the moving business starting with Withers Transportation out of Miami. Then upon moving to Michigan he drove for affiliates of Allied Van Lines, those being Potter's Moving and Storage, finally retiring from Allen's Moving in Storage out of Flint in the late 90’s.

With millions of miles under his belt his many travels would take him to New Jersey where for many years his path would cross with a waitress Anne Flamisch at Howard's Diner in Secaucus, New Jersey. Ed's life was enriched with adventure as was Anne's; with that they moved and lived in many towns across Michigan: Royal Oak, Rochester, Ortonville, Wolverine, Millington and back to Wolverine where they felt was “home”.

During the years in Wolverine they built, owned, and operated the Wolverine Skate Center in Wolverine. The Skate Center had made many memories for the people of the small town. Ed retired in the late 90’s to spend time with his children and grandchildren, showering them with love and telling stories of his many travels, the celebrities he moved furniture for and the sights he seen and always providing advice of the best routes across the entire country. His traveling didn’t stop though, as he spent much time traveling to Naples, Florida to visit his daughter Jamie and his sister Esta in the Poconos.

Sadly, his wife Anne Woloson passed away on April 27th 2006. During his free time he could be found watching Football and NASCAR on TV, visiting with friends and family, and frequenting the local coffee shop.

Surviving are his children, Wendy (Daniel) Babcock of Wolverine, Jamie (Steve) Mueller, Mark Woloson, and Jody (Fred) Dehnashi; grandchildren, Chelsea, Nicholas, Madison, Brittini, Arianna, Lexi and Aaron; and great-grand kids Copeland, Cory, Anthony, Tyler and Ryan; brothers- in-law Robert McMonegal of New York, Alan Bialos of Pennsylvania and Robert Peters of Florida. He was preceded in death by his Sister Esta Bialos and brother, Philip Woloson.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Gaylord Community Funeral home & Cremation Service where visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM.
