Edward A. Wesoloski, 93, of Guthrie Lakes, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. Born in Natrona, PA on December 14, 1922, Ed was the son of John and Stella (Schultz) Wesoloski.
Ed served honorably and proudly in the United State Army Air Corps during World War II. A ball turret gunner in a B-24, Ed flew 35 missions over occupied Europe. Staff Sergeant Wesoloski received four Bronze Battle Stars, the Air Medal with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Service Award.
On September 4, 1948, Ed married Deloris “Dolly” Pakulski in Hamtramck. They were longtime residents of Oak Park where they raised their family.
Ed worked at Mac-O-Lac Paints in Detroit from 1947-1984 where he was the shipping & receiving supervisor.
After retiring, Ed and Dolly spent winters in south Texas for 15 years and summers at Guthrie Lakes where they had owned property and vacationed since 1974. Since 2000 they have made Guthrie Lakes their home.
Ed enjoyed hunting and he took great pride in working around his home. He was an avid golfer and a member of Wilderness Valley. In retirement Ed and Dolly enjoyed travel including their trips to Hawaii and Alaska.
Surviving are Dolly, his wife of 67 years; six children, Edward (Kim) Wesoloski of Lansing, Kathy Hardin of Portland, OR, Kenneth (Karen) Wesoloski of Rochester Hills, Thomas Wesoloski of Guthrie Lakes, Christopher Wesoloski of Oak Park and Barbara (Christian) Guest of Cedar; grandchildren, Andrew Wesoloski, Anne Wesoloski, Derek Holzer, Erin Holzer, Cody Hardin, Daniel Hardin, Lauren Ferry, Kevin Wesoloski, Aurelia Guest and Hank Guest; great grandchildren, Kyrah Novak and Benjamin Hardin and several nieces and nephews. The youngest of eight children, Ed was preceded in death by his three brothers and four sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors provided by Gaylord VFW Post #1518.
