Dorothy Ann Heath, 97 of Gaylord, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village. Born on December 28, 1917 in Gladwin, she was the daughter of Bert and Anna (Lennon) Woods.

Dorothy was a 1936 graduate of Gladwin High School. On December 5, 1936 she married William J. Heath in Gladwin where they lived until 1961 when Bill’s work brought them to Gaylord.

Dorothy worked as a cook at Gladwin High School and in Gaylord at Dibbles Store. Dorothy loved her family and always enjoyed having them around. She enjoyed cooking for family and visitors. She and Bill enjoyed traveling. Dorothy enjoyed camping and cooking over open fires. She also enjoyed walking and walked many miles in the Crop Walk and the Mackinac Bridge walks. As a member of the Gaylord First Congregational Church, she enjoyed Sunday services, Wednesday noon lunches and Thursday Morning Bible Studies.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; a brother, Daniel Woods and a sister, Helen Bartlett and a son-in-law, Eric Hanson. Surviving are her children, Patrick(Helga) Heath of Gaylord, Kenneth (Connie) Heath of Milan, Margaret (Keith Martines) of Davison, Judy Heath Hanson of Lakewood, CO and Bert (Susan) Heath of Scottsdale, AZ; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Mary Liz) Woods of Fort Myers, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held later, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to First Congregational Church, 218 W 2nd St. Gaylord MI 49735 Or Salvation Army –Gaylord, 931 S. Otsego Ave. Gaylord, MI 49735
