Doris Mae (Daniels) Braley, 88, returned to her heavenly home on September 26, 2017. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her, and gave her peace.

Doris Mae was born to the late William and Anna Daniels on March 23, 1929, in Lansing, Michigan. In 1932, her family moved to Lake City, Michigan, and then a year later to Cadillac, Michigan where they made their home for the next many years. Doris graduated from Cadillac High School in 1947.

During her high school years Doris met the love of her life.  Little did they know, they lived just a block away from each other.  On September 1, 1950, Doris married her best friend and true love, Elden E. Braley. They just celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary this past September.

Doris served as a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader, Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the choir at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. She was also involved in the Northland Players group. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Doris never missed a game that was televised. Doris also loved watching her grandchildren participate in baseball, girls softball and basketball.

Doris is survived by her husband, Elden and four children: Suann (Kirk) Jewell of Edwardsburg, William (Linda) Braley of Cheboygan, Marla (Matt) Mora and James (Sueann) Braley of Gaylord. Grandchildren: Brandon (Katie) Jewell, Abbi (Scott) Scalici, Alison Chimner (Isaac), Ashley (Ben) Canarecci, Lindsay McGinnis and step-grandchildren Ryan Kinsey, Heather (Tom) Weber, Joyce (Ricco) Zaballa (sister and brother-in-law) and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Paige DeVries, Kinley and Grayson Scalici, Brody, Kade and Maxen Canarecci, Madison McGinnis and two step great grandchildren, Levi and Layne Weber.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Noretta Markley, Gerri (Arvid, brother in law) Dahlquist and a great-grandchild, Averi Kay Scalici and brother and sister in laws.

A memorial service for Doris will be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Cheboygan on October 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. for close friends and family.
