Doris Luella Pavey, 85 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Saturday, December 21, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Born on January 8, 1934 in Royal Oak where she grew up and graduated from high school, Doris was the daughter of William and Ada (Mumford) Wride.
On April 11, 1953 Doris and Carter Pavey Jr. were united in marriage in Royal Oak. They lived for several years in Farmington with their four children before moving to the Gaylord area in 1969. Doris worked with Carter Jr. in their real estate business in Waters, Carter Pavey Realty.
Doris enjoyed attending the Gaylord First United Methodist Church. An avid gardener and bingo player, she also enjoyed her pet birds and travel with Carter. Doris loved family time, especially family cookouts and time together at Guthrie Lake. She will be remembered by many for her spirit of volunteerism at the Otsego County Historical Society and with other area organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Jr., on July 20, 1987, Surviving are her children, Linda Tyran of Gaylord, Christine (William) Czepcinski of Rockford, Catherine (Randall) Nowack of Roscommon and Carter Pavey III of Frederic; grandchildren, Stacey, Sierra (Ben), Douglas (Carlie), Carter IV (Megan), Theodore, Nathaniel, Sarah, Ross (Jessica) and Reid (Lauren); great grandchildren, Abraham, Ezekiel, Addison, Drake, George, Leo and Emersyn; and her sister, Janet (Clifford) Dean of Royal Oak.
A graveside memorial service and a gathering to celebrate her life will be held in the spring. She will be buried alongside Carter Jr. at Otsego Lake Township Cemetery.
