Donna Jean Thompson, 65 of Vanderbilt, passed away at home on Friday, June 11, 2021. Born on November 18, 1955 in Petoskey, she was the daughter of Charles Roy and Donna Lou (Wicker) Higley. She was a lifelong area resident.
Always a caregiver, Donna dedicated her life to helping others. She was a longtime social worker for the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, working at DHHS offices in Gaylord, Atlanta, and Grayling.
When not working, she enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting thrift shops and garage sales.
Donna is survived by her four children, Doug (Shelly) Slagel of Gaylord, Oliva Slagel of Johannesburg, Jon (Barbara) Seguin of Gaylord and Tim Seguin of Gaylord; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; her mother, Donna Lou Higley of Vanderbilt; brothers, Robert (Sue) Higley of Vanderbilt, Charles (Barb) Higley of Paradise, Richard (Cindy) Higley of Gaylord and Russell (Jennifer) Higley of Vanderbilt; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Higley.
Donna’s family will gather with friends to remember her from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
