Don Errol Benz

Don Errol Benz, 68 of East Jordan passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.

Don was born on June 21, 1950 in Bay Village, Ohio to Emil and Jeannie (Milinski) Benz.  Both parents and brother, Bruce, preceded him in death.  Don is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane (French) Benz; his brother, Ron Benz; his children, Eric Peters, Marc Peters, Celia McGeorge and Russell Benz; 8 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Sadie.  He is survived by his dogs, Winnie and Bo.

Don served in the U.S. Navy (PO3 Vietnam) until 1976.  After leaving the Navy, he worked in the oil fields and in maintenance until his retirement.  Don had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, spending time by the campfire with friends and family and spending time crafting in his workshop.

His life will be remembered and celebrated from 2:00-5:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Boyne City Eagles, FOE #1583, 106 River St.. Boyne City, MI  49712.

His family respectfully asks those who wish to consider a memorial contribution in his name to the Charlevoix Humane Society or to the family to assist with expenses.
