Donald M. Palmer, 80 of Johannesburg, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 while returning from Gold Canyon, Arizona.

Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, Don was the son of Melvin and Elaine (Langel) Palmer.  Don worked for many years as a diesel mechanic inWalled Lake and Garden City before retiring.  Since then he has lived in Johannesburg and Grayling in the summer months and spent winters in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

Don enjoyed boating, camping and snowmobiling.  He took pleasure in keeping his automobiles, boats and other vehicles clean and in excellent condition.  Many knew and recognized Don’s signature flame decals.

Don was a longtime member of the Pontiac-Waterford Elks Lodge, the Lewiston Moose Lodge and the Lewiston Fun Ones Snowmobile Club.

On February 7, 1959 Don married Linda Sue Madrey.  She preceded him in death in 2010..  Surviving is his son, Donald L. (Margie) Palmer of Johannesburg; grandchildren, Megan (Jon), Theresa and Donnie; great grandchildren, Emma and Donovan; a brother, Pete Palmer and a brother in law, Max Madrey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM..  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
