Donald L. Hardiek

Donald L. Hardiek, 80 of Gaylord, passed away at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

Born in Effingham, IL on August 20, 1937, Don was the son of Harry and Laura (Ingle) Hardiek.

A longtime carpenter, Don lived in Troy and worked in the metro Detroit area for many years.  After retiring he moved to Gaylord.  Don enjoyed working in grounds and maintenance at Treetops, Marsh Ridge and The Lakes golf courses.  He was also an avid Detroit Red Wings hockey fan and was a longtime hockey coach before moving to Gaylord.  Don had also served honorably in the United States Army during the 1950’s.

He is survived by his three sons, Scott Hardiek of Plymouth, Kevin (Diane) Hardiek of Kennewick, WA and Todd Hardiek of Rochester Hills; his four grandchildren, Matthew, Cameron, Allison and Isabell Hardiek; and his extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Hardiek.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Don’s neighbors for their friendship and for always being there for him.

Friends are invited to a memorial gathering and celebration of Don’s life at 1:00 PM Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home, 6741 Nightingale Drive in Gaylord.
