Donald F. Matts

Donald F. Matts, 75 of Boyne City, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at home. Born on January 30, 1940 in Otsego County, Charlton Township, Don was the son of LeRoy R. and Rose J. (Damer) Matts. The family moved to Boyne City when Don was young.

A lifelong builder, block layer and stonemason, Don was involved in many area building projects over the years. He enjoyed metal detecting and watching old western movies. A guitar player, Don enjoyed older country and blue grass music.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Tina Marie Carter of Boyne City, Laura Rose Tooter of Scotts Hill, TN and Gerard Elliot Matts of Linden, TN; grandchildren, Lauren, Jake, Martin and Sierra; sisters Phyllis Green of Vanderbilt, Mary (Mark) Carson of Fountain Hills, AZ and Patty Hart of Chillicothe, OH; brothers, Robert (Yvonne) Matts, Jerome Matts and James Matts all of Boyne City; nine nephews and four nieces.

Arrangements for a spring memorial service are pending and will be announced later. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Don’s family.
