The following is placed as a convenience and at the request of Mrs. Carr’s family and Northside Chapel of Roswell, Georgia:

Dolores “Dee” M. Carr, age 84, of Lawrenceville, GA and formerly of Gaylord, MI, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 after extended illnesses including Multiple Myeloma Cancer and Dementia.

Dee was born June 15, 1932 in Gaylord Michigan to Stanley and Frances Butka. Dee married George E. Carr on August 4, 1951 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord Michigan. George and Dee spent the last 40 years in the surrounding areas of Atlanta, GA.  Dee was an avid and talented decorator and was self-employed in the wholesale/retail art business with George and sons. George passed away April 15, 2006 so we are thankful they are reunited.

Dee is survived by her three sons, Stephen Carr of Buford, GA, David Carr of Decatur GA, and Roger Carr of Snellville, GA and two daughters Jody Keiss of Canton GA and Laura Thompson of Canton GA.  Dee is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jamie Mosley, Jeff Carr, Matt Keiss, David Keiss, Mitchell Thompson and Kyle Thompson. Dee also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Cameryn and Riley who also reside in Georgia.  Siblings survived are, her only sister, Shirley Latuszek and one of three brothers, Hilbert Butka, whom both reside in Michigan.

Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2:00pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory located at 12050 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, GA 30075. Reverend Banks Brazell will be officiating.  Immediately following the service will be a Tribute Balloon Release and refreshments at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living and Memory Care located at 12200 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, GA 30004.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.  www.themmrf.org

In honor of Dee Carr, friends and family will be holding a 5k Walk/Run in September 2017.  Proceeds to be donated to BrightFocus Foundation to further Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease research. Please join us!
