Dennis C. Daniels Sr, 67 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Saturday, July 18, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Born in Wyandotte, on November 24, 1947, Dennis was the son of Marlin and Alberta (Foster) Daniels. They preceded him in death along with his brother, Willard Daniels.
Den worked as a sanitation engineer for most of his life and was proud of his career. He was also a great mechanic and could fix almost anything. Having traveled and moved around extensively during his life, Den finally settled down in Gaylord and spent the last 20 years of his life on their beloved property. Den really enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours frogging and fishing and passed his love of these activities on to his children and grandchildren. Den also enjoyed telling stories and had a wonderful sense of humor. His family was extremely important, however, most important to Den were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he cherished his time with each of them. Den was known for his generosity to everyone, and strangers were simply friends he hadn’t met yet. While in Gaylord, he and Corine became involved with the Light of Hope church, and were baptized as children of Christ. It was a simple public acknowledgement of the faith he lived his whole life and one he treasured.
He is survived by his loving wife, Corine (Jorgensen) Daniels of 49 years. Also surviving are his children, April Perkins of Gaylord, Robert (Susan) Daniels of Plainwell, Dennis Daniels Jr. of Gaylord, Tammy Shannon of Kalamazoo, Margaret Cerbasi of Gaylord, Daniel Mohle of Gaylord and Daniel Perkins of Kalamazoo; 12 special grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth and Daniel Perkins, Stacie Daniels, Jamie and Bradly Daniels, Leona Daniels, Marcella, Willie III, Benjamin and Emily Shannon and Michael Lewis; 3 great-grandchildren, Alexander Lundberg, Chante Daniels, and Rosalie Daniels; his brother, Gerald Daniels of Comstock; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 N. Center Avenue, Pastor Dana Wingo officiating.
