Deanna F. “DeDe” Carpenter, 45 of Houghton Lake, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital. Born December 23, 1970 in Duarte, California, DeDe was the daughter of Joseph Carpenter and Linda Smith.
DeDe graduated from high school in California and then moved to Houghton Lake in 2000. She loved living in Houghton Lake near her mother, siblings, nieces and nephew. She obtained her nursing degree at Kirtland Community College and proudly worked as a nurse. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, beaches, boating, bingo, canning, gardening, crafting, yard sales, attending drag races and family gatherings. For several years, DeDe and her Mom owned and operated Storage Treasures. She was a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles Club.
Deanna is survived by David Kapusto, her significant other for over 16 years; her parents, Linda (Roland) Smith and Joseph (Olga) Carpenter; her sister, Jennifer (Tim) Malcomson; her brother, Joseph (Misty) Carpenter; nieces and nephew, Ashley Malcomson, Alicia Carpenter, Timothy Malcomson Jr. and Madison Carpenter; cousins, Rayanna Dresher, CoraLee Dresher, Richard Dresher and many more. She is also survived by her 3 dogs, Meatball, Dusty and Freddie that she adored.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert (Patricia) Dresher and Francise (Jean) Carpenter; her uncle, Bobby Dresher and her special dogs, Kane, Kita, Maximus and Rocky.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Houghton Lake Eagles Aerie 3201, 101 Crestview Road, Houghton Lake. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Missaukee Humane Society, P.O. Box D, Lake City, MI 49651. Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
