David N. Duncan, 64 of Lynn Haven, FL and formerly of Carp Lake, MI, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
David was born in Cheboygan on October 18, 1954. In 1972, he graduated from Mackinaw City High School. David proudly obtained a Bachelor degree in administration and education, a Master degree in health and wellness both from Liberty University and an Associate degree from Excelsior University. He wore many hats throughout the years including being a paramedic, EMS instructor and coordinator, registered nurse and firefighter. With numerous agencies, continuously helping people throughout Northern Michigan he worked at Otsego County EMS, Cheboygan Life Support, Carp Lake Township Fire Department and Otsego Memorial Hospital. He had a heart and desire to take care of others and always put them before himself. When David wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and teaching. One of his greatest passions was taking care of the community. He will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his wife, Peggy Duncan; his children, Nelson (Rockie) Duncan of New Baltimore, Benjamin Duncan of Petoskey, Adam (Erin) Duncan of Petoskey, Megan (Craig) Davis of Panama City Beach, FL, Taylor Forrester of Lynn Haven, FL and Samual Duncan of Lynn Haven, FL; parents, Nelson and Rhea Gail Duncan of Carp Lake; father-in-law, Howard Grosser of Gaylord; brothers and sisters, Kathy (Robert) Hoover of Chesapeake, VA, Charlene (Nick) Rosati of Taylor , Diana (Steve) Szucs of Lincoln Park, Rebecca (Brad) Tolles of Dearborn, Dan (Heather) Duncan of Indian River; eight special grandchildren, Gavin, Ana, Faith, Aden, Christian, Briley, Oliver and Henry; former daughter-in-law, Melissa Jollette of Boyne City; former wife, Annette Hoover of Alanson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve and his mother-in-law, Ruth Grosser.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM.
