Darlene Kay Mykytiuk, 75 of Grayling, passed away at home on Monday, March 2, 2020.

Born in Farwell, Michigan on August 5, 1944, Darlene was the daughter of Millard and Fern (Waddington) Pitts.

On February 14, 1981 Darlene and Paul Mykytiuk Jr. were married in Midland, Michigan.  They were residents of Massachusetts for over 30 years and moved to Grayling in 2016.

Darlene was a Certified Medical Assistant working in the triage area of a cardiology practice for many years.  She was also a massage therapist and she owned a gourmet coffee and tea shop.  For several years she was active with Weight Watchers groups in Grayling, Houghton Lake and Roscommon.

Darlene loved her family.  She enjoyed the outdoors and especially spending time at ocean beaches.  She also enjoyed living an active lifestyle and kept busy cross country skiing, quilting, sewing and volunteering.  In retirement she and Paul enjoyed traveling with trips to Korea, Italy, Germany, England, Portugal, Spain, Israel and other destinations.  She was a member of Higgins Lake Baptist Church.

In addition to Paul, her husband of 39 years, Darlene is survived by her children, Kevin (Anita) Drake of Albers, IL, Steven (Maggie) Drake of St. Mary’s, GA and Kristi (Kelly) Whipple of Gainesville, FL; step children, Carla Mykytiuk of Bloomingdale, IL and Jay (Elizabeth) Mykytiuk of Washington, DC; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly (Willie) Westbrook of Englewood, FL.  She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Shane Drake and a brother, Edward Pitts.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Higgins Lake Baptist Church, 7461 W. Higgins Lake Drive, Roscommon, MI  48653.
