Cyrulus May Palm (aka Babe & Sandy), 91, of Gerrish Township, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Munson Health’s Crawford Continuing Care Center in Grayling, MI from Parkinson’s Disease.

Born on May 4, 1926 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Herman and Cyrulus (Ziegler) Johnson.

As a child, Cyrulus grew up with her family in Detroit. As an adult, she lived in Dearborn Heights, Brownstown Township, Kihei (Maui) and finally in Gerrish Township, where she resided for the past 20 years.

After completing high school, Cyrulus spent the bulk of her professional life working as a bookkeeper/office manager at The Dearborn Press, the D.M. Mitchell Trucking Co., and Parker Transportation.

When not working, Cyrulus enjoyed bowling, the theatre and family gatherings. She loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, where a dear friend upon learning of her death wrote, “It's not enough, but I hold her in my heart and have always known her as the most graceful, loving, wonderful being.”

Cyrulus is survived by her husband, Fred; her daughter, Dorene Hernandez of The Woodlands, TX; grandsons, Daniel Hernandez and wife Katie of Fort Worth, TX, Luis Hernandez and wife Kelly of Conroe, TX and Victor Hernandez and wife Lynsey of The Woodlands, TX; great grandchildren, Marc, Matthew, Jace, Trae, Alizayah and Dawson; sisters-in-law, Patricia Palm of Clinton Township and Carol Alee of Whitmore Lake; and her beloved cats, Barnes and Noble.  Cyrulus was preceded in death by sisters Lorraine and Victoria, and her brother, Donald.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at First English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe, MI where the family will visit with relatives and friends beginning at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Michigan Humane Society. Donations may also be made to the church.
