Claudia R. Rowland, 68 of Vanderbilt, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Otsego Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pontiac on October 17, 1947, Claudia was the daughter of Claude and Marguerite (Hays) Rust.  She spent much of her youth in the Whitmore Lake area and a few years in St. Ignace where her father was employed in the building of the Mackinac Bridge as an iron worker.

Claudia lived and worked for many years in the Sterling Heights area as a bookkeeper.  On August 25, 2000 she married David M. Rowland in Walled Lake.  They moved to Vanderbilt in 2007 from Novi.  Claudia worked one summer in Gaylord as a bookkeeper at Breitburn.

Claudia loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  She is survived by her husband, David M. Rowland of Vanderbilt; her sons, Dwayne (Trudy) Gross and Rusty (Angela) Gross both of Fowlerville; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Amanda and Rusty Jr. (Katherine); five great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis (Bob) Pihajlic of Rochester, Pam (Don) Rittenhouse of Valley Center, CA and Dee (Harold) Gross of Oxford; a brother, Doug (Mechelle) Rust of Sterling Heights and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bruce Rust.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Gaylord with the Reverend Pam Lynch officiating.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
