Chester L. Borowiak

Chester L. Borowiak, 84 of Vanderbilt, passed away at home on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Born in Gaylord on February 16, 1937, Chet was the son of Steven and Frances (Jonas) Borowiak.

On January 14, 1964, he married Patricia Forman in Boyne City. They were long time residents of Vanderbilt where they raised their family.

Chet retired from H&H Tube in Vanderbilt where he worked for more than 30 years. He also worked for more than 20 years at the Corwith Township Transfer Station, enjoying visiting with the many friends he made there over the years.

In his spare time, Chet enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching Detroit Tiger baseball, gardening and playing horseshoes. He was a member of Gaylord Eagles #1825.

Surviving is Pat, his wife of 58 years; his daughters, Cherie Borowiak of Vanderbilt and Laurie (Jim) Schleicher of Traverse City; grandsons, Zachary and Nicholas Schleicher of Traverse City; his sister, Romaine Baumgardner of Gaylord; his sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Chet was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Theresa Ralston; and a brother, Tony Borowiak. He will be buried with his beloved dog, Toby, who also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Vanderbilt. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family.
