Charles Alfred Distler

Charles Alfred Distler, 81 of Gaylord, went be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2020.

Born in the Bronx, New York on December 3, 1938. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Charles Distler, and his mother, Daisy (Smith) Distler.

Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen (Williams) Distler; daughter Dawn Distler (Janie Fazenbaker); son Scott Distler (Laura Day Distler); granddaughter Joy Distler, grandson Jonathan Distler (Kali Hurst Distler), and great-grandchildren Maxson and Jovie. Also survived by his sisters Daisy Powell and Ruth Gabel (Gary Gabel) and multiple nieces and nephews.

Charles had been employed by Montgomery Ward, Akron OH, Cedar Ridge Children’s Home, Williamsport MD, Florida Baptist Children’s Home, Winter Haven, Lakeland, and Okeechobee FL, and retired from Rubber and Accessories of Lakeland FL. He has been a resident of Gaylord, MI, for the past five years.

Charles had a passionate love for the New York Yankees, old westerns, anything chocolate, his wife and family, but most of all, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family will be holding a private graveside service. A celebration of life service will be hosted in the near future with details forthcoming.
