Charles R. Hawley

Charles R. Hawley, 84 of Vanderbilt, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Born on Sept 16, 1931 in Gibbs Corners, he was the son of Leonard and Sarah (Washburn) Hawley.

On April 16, 1955 he married Roselin E. Dipzinski. A longtime Vanderbilt resident, Chuck retired from Higgins Industries, now H & H Tube. Chuck was a longtime member of the Vanderbilt Village Council, the American Legion and a former member of VFW Post #1518 and Eagles Lodge #1825 in Gaylord. Chuck was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed woodworking. His first love though was his family, in recent years he had a special love for his great grandchildren. He cherished the time he could spend with them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselin, on October 12, 2013; also surviving are his children, Robin (David) Moore of Wolverine, Brenda (Tim) Cottrell of Vanderbilt and Rusty Hawley of Vanderbilt; grandchildren, Jody (David) Zeilinger, Jessica Whitman, Victoria (Mark) Moore, Erika Moore, Ryan (Leslie) Cottrell, Megan Cottrell, Brad (Stacey) Cottrell, Dennis (Heather) Hawley and Rusty (Kellie Sue) Hawley Jr. and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Wanda Bronkema of Marion and a brother, Floyd (Naomi) Hawley of Kodiak, TN and a sister in law, Betty Hawley of Grayling. He was preceded in death by sisters, Genevieve Perry, Wanetta Woosley, Phyllis Grimshaw, Betty Depew and Minnie Dale Hawley; and brothers, Calvin Hawley, Chester Hawley, James Hawley, Jackie Hawley and Richard Hawley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 23, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vanderbilt, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Hill Cemetery.
