Carol L. Boik, 79 of Gaylord, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at McReynolds Hall. Born on May 20, 1938 in East Detroit, she was the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy Hummel.

Carol graduated from East Detroit High School and met the love of her life, Richard and married him shortly after, on September 17, 1955. For over 25 years, she worked for Federal Mogul Corporation as the Executive Secretary. Upon retirement, she and Richard moved to Gaylord. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral and very active in the annual St. Mary Craft Show. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, cross country skiing, ice skating and doing cross stitch. Most of all, her pride and joy were her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Lynda (Robert) Sendek of Shelby Township; Michael (Debra) Boik Waterford and Daniel Boik of Gaylord; grandchildren, Adam, Michael, Natalie (Jonathan) and Matthew; her great-grandson, Dominic; her sister, Susan (Joe) Kelly of Shelby Township and her brother, William (Jane) Hummel of Ray Township.

Carol’s family and friends will visit from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where a Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Those who wish are asked to make memorial contributions to the Daughters of Isabella.
