Carole Jean Hooker, of Cadillac, went home to be with her Lord early Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016. She was 71. Carole was born August 26, 1944 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to William M. and Eleanor Jane (Brecker) Hooker. They preceded her in death in 1998 and 2002 respectively.
She was graduated from Rogers High School in Wyoming, MI in 1962, earned her Certificate in Christian Education from Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music in 1965, and received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Spring Arbor College in 1973. Carole taught primary grades at Christian schools in Holland, Brimley, Algoma, and at Heritage Christian in Cadillac for many years, where she shared her passion for art in all her classes. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Cadillac, participating in several ministries including Awana, Kid’s Hope, Praise Point, Sunday School teaching and choir.
Survivors include her brother, Ronald (Helen) Hooker of Belair, Manitoba, Canada, her sister, Kathy (Garry) Berens, of Jenison, MI, 14 nieces and nephews, one grand-niece, many wonderful friends, and her beloved cat, Callie.
Memorial service will be held 1PM Saturday, May 21, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Cadillac, with Pastors Dave McMahon and Mike Stambaugh officiating. Friends may meet family members from noon until services.
