Carol Jean Van Loon, 69 of Atlanta, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Munson Hospice House. Born in Mansfield, Ohio on November 2, 1954, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Leeman) Waits.
One of the things, most near and dear to Carol's heart, was ministering to women in jail. She loved telling them about the Lord and what he has done for all of us. Anyone she would talk with, whether it be a stranger, family, or friends, felt blessed and loved by her presence.
She enjoyed fishing, no matter if it was big or small. She was crafty and creative, making flower arrangements for weddings, baby showers and graduations. She also would make hug pillows for all occasions with scripture on them. In the winter, her hobbies were 3-D diamond paintings for veterans, healthcare staff, friends, and family. She was gifted at writing poems and would write them for many people throughout the years. She was considerate, loving, caring, inspirational and strong.
Carol and Nick would start every morning listening to the Promise FM Radio. They enjoyed listening to Christian music throughout the day.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Nicholas Van Loon; her children, Nancy Van Loon of Evart, Heather (Robert) Allen, Gwendolyn Ballard, and Tony Ballard all of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Zachary, Nick, Christopher, Sarah, Chelsea, Brayden, Madison and Aiden, Brian Jr., and Samantha; 5 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ann Waits of West Carrollton, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas, and Sarah; her daughter, Leslie Ballard; her brother, Dwight Waits and her son-in-law, Craig Freed.
Visitation will take place at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2023, where Funeral Services will begin at 4:00 PM at the Gaylord E-Free Church.
