Carlene M. "Carlee" Allen, 49 of Frederic, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Born on December 8, 1965 in West Branch, Carlee was the daughter of Bayard (Jack) and Pauline (Booth) Cournyer.

Carlee was raised in Mio where she attended Mio Church of God. After graduating from Mio High School in 1984, she went to Kirtland Community College, Ferris State University obtaining a degree in accounting in 1988, and finished from Central Michigan University with a masters in Educational Leadership in 2000.

She worked for Boyne City Public Schools from 1995-2002 and then for Gaylord Community Schools from 2002-2012 both in the Business and Finance Office. Carlee loved watching hockey, NASCAR, her dogs, and participating in the Ultimate Air Dogs. She loved tubing the AuSable River and spending time on any sea shore near or far, as well as snowmobiling, being outdoors and going to concerts. Most of all she loved her family.

Carlee is survived by her husband, Casey Allen. Also surviving are her parents, Jack and Pauline Cournyer of Mio; sister, Cathy (John) Riggs of Bellaire, TX; three nephews, Keith, Kevin and Jack Riggs; sisters-in-law, Toni (Dennis) Anderson of Mio; Lauren (Jim Davis) Allen of Royal Oak and Teri Allen of Anthony, NM; and a step-daughter, Lindsay (Bryan) Kelley of Germany.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue, Gaylord. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Mio Church of God, 831 W. Miller Road, Mio with Gene Spies officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan, the Otsego County Animal Shelter or the Kirtland Community College Foundation. Please share your memories or personal messages with the family at www.gaylordfuneralhome.com
