Bruce I. Fasel

Bruce I. Fasel, 65 of Otsego Lake Township, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Born on November 13, 1954 in Traverse City, he was the son of Isadore and Marian (Kratochvil) Fasel.

In 1976, he married JoAnne Milbocker and they had one daughter, Amy.  On March 6, 1993, Bruce married Kimberly S. (Thompson) Harland.  His family grew to also include her son, Jory Harland.

During the 1970’s Bruce worked at the Alpine Center along with his friend, Bob Passmore.  It was at this time that Bruce realized his commitment for caring for those in need would last a lifetime. After the Alpine Center closed, Bruce and Bob started Northern Management Services, providing services to the developmentally disabled.  Later, Bob and Bruce continued the growth of Northern Management Services, changing the company name to Community Home & Health Services in 2013.  Bob retired in 2014.  In 2017, Bruce retired and sold the business to his stepson, Jory.

In his spare time, Bruce was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed boating on Bradford Lake.  He also enjoyed lending a helping hand, building, and was passionate about taking care of his home and yard.  A longtime member of the Rotary Club of Gaylord, he was the 2002-03 club president. Above all, he was a devoted family-man and adored his grandsons. His dream was to share his love of hunting, fishing and the great outdoors with them.

Bruce is survived by Kim, his wife of 27 years; his daughter, Amy (Nick) Wasmiller of Newaygo; his stepson, Jory (Micayla) Harland of Gaylord; grandchildren, Tucker Wasmiller of Newaygo and Reese Harland of Gaylord; sisters, Anita Fasel and Connie (Skip) Natzmer both of Traverse City; a brother, Denny (Niki) Fasel of Traverse City; his much loved nieces and nephews; Kim’s parents, Mitch and Susann Thompson of Maple Forest Township; and a plethora of extended family and loving friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
