Brice Arthur Pederson, 78 of Rockford and formerly of Vanderbilt, passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2018 at The Sanctuary at Saint Mary’s in Grand Rapids after a 5 ½ year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born on February 5, 1940 in Elk Rapids, Brice was the son of Harold and Vera (Barnes) Pederson.
After graduating from high school, Brice served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961 and in the Army Reserves until 1964.
On December 10, 1966 Brice was married to Wilma May Taylor at the United Methodist Church in Alba. For 27 years he enjoyed working in Northern Michigan for GTE which later became Verizon.
Brice will be remembered as a handyman, a “Mr. Fix-it”. He had a passion for building and remodeling, having built their first home and remodeled three others. He enjoyed maintaining and repairing their rental properties. In his spare time, Brice also enjoyed spending time “having coffee with the guys” in Vanderbilt. For many years he attended Gaylord First United Methodist Church and more recently, Rockford United Methodist Church.
Surviving is Wilma, his wife of 52 years; his daughter, Sandy (Ron) Radunzel of Rockford; grandchildren, Matthew Radunzel of Kalamazoo and Emily Radunzel of Rockford; sisters, Alice Rogers of Traverse City and Jean (Mike) Rust of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Marvin (Betty) Pederson of Rapid City; a sister-in-law, Carol Pederson of Springfield, OH; a sister-in-law, Jeanne (Charles) Newberry of Elk Rapids; a brother-in-law, Charles (Maggie) Taylor of Harrison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lowell and Larry Pederson and a brother-in-law, Jay Rogers.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to The Sanctuary at Saint Mary’s or the Alzheimer’s Association.
