Brenda S. Cross

Brenda Sue Cross, 68 of Gaylord, born on December 5, 1953 to Attrel and Mildred (Gognon) Freeman in Dearborn, MI, died on September 14, 2022, at home.  She fought a fast-moving battle with cancer. 

Brenda grew up in the Onaway area and married Dennis Cross on June 8,1970. She and Dennis had four children.  Brenda was a dedicated wife and hard worker. She worked for Standard Products for a while where she worked with the Union to make work life better for all.  She went on to manage convenience stores after that.  

Her marriage ended in 1993 and in 1994 she met Aaron Switalski whom she has been with ever since. She was a loving mother, friend, and caretaker of all; a person who loved humanity and judged no one. She was selfless and kind to everyone.  

Left to cherish Brenda's memory are her loving life partner, Aaron Switalski; children, Kandy Cross (Don Dunster), Dennis"Bub" Cross Jr., Kim (Bill) LaValle and Melissa Dickie; grandchildren, Justice (Will) Merithew, Katelynn Cross, Dustin Cross, Caleb Dickie, Sydney LaValle, and Sofi LaValle; brothers and sisters, Bill (Carol)Freeman, Ernie Freeman, Eunice"Lee"Perry, Ralf Freeman, Marolyn Perry, Al (Kristi) Freeman, Doug (Stacey) Freeman. Many, many, nieces, and nephews loved her as well. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Clara, Cleona, and Kathy; and brother Dennis.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Eagles Hall in Gaylord. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family, payable to Kim LaValle, and mailed to Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, P.O. Box 249, Gaylord, MI  49734.
