Bonnie Lou Kekel, 79 of Gaylord, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born on March 21, 1942 in Flint, MI, she was the daughter of Clyde and Anna (Whitman) Spohn.
As a young woman, Bonnie moved to Germany shortly after marrying her husband who was serving in the military. She later returned to Flint where she finished her education and went to work at General Motors Buick Division in data processing.
Bonnie spent most of her life in the Flint area, working, raising her family, and enjoying golf and bowling. She had a lifelong love of owning and driving Corvettes. In 2014 she moved to Gaylord to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
In her later years, Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and spending time with her grandsons, and her great granddaughter.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Kamiel Wyskochil of Gaylord and Jerry (Pam) Kekel of Flint; grandsons, Nathan (Deztiny) Ballmer, Nicholas Ballmer, Jay (Jennifer) Kekel and Jason DeLong; her great granddaughter, Audrey Rose Ballmer; sisters, Marilyn VanAllen and Jan Rice and their families. She was preceded in death by young sons, Jeffrey and Joel Kekel.
In keeping with her wishes, Bonnie’s family will remember her privately with a memorial gathering later.
