Betty Lou Sutter

Betty Lou Sutter, 81 of Gaylord, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Tendercare of Gaylord. Born on January 30, 1934 in Vanceburg, KY, she was the daughter of Robert and Gertrude (Warren) Thomas.

Betty worked as dietician at Tendercare in Gaylord and she also worked at Rausch Jewelers in Gaylord. A master gardener, for many years Betty enjoyed doing flower arrangements for weddings and churches. She enjoyed antiques, painting and celebrating birthdays. She also enjoyed farming, raising chickens and cows. She loved to go boating on Lake Charlevoix with her boat “Nanatoy”. Her family and friends will remember her generosity toward others.

She loved daisies, her favorite flower, and she was known as “Daisy” by her husband, Bill Sutter. He preceded her in death in 2009. Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Jean (Kenneth) Thomas of Johannesburg; grandchildren, Ken Jr. (Danielle) Thomas, Kurtis (Angie) Thomas, Betty Lou (Rodney) Schoolcraft and Kimberly Thomas; great grandchildren, Gene, Nicole, Nick, Noah, Ivy, Gracie, Levi, Tate, Tray, Melissa and James; 4 great great grandchildren; a sister, Naomi (Duane) Smith of Johannesburg and brothers Charley (Hazel) Thomas and Robert (Carol) Thomas of Johannesburg. She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Pruitt.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor Jay Chambers will officiate. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church.
